How to enroll with a supplier
Before enrolling, be sure to research suppliers and their billing options carefully.
When you have selected a supplier, contact that supplier directly.
After you authorize a supplier to enroll you, the supplier will contact BGE electronically with an enrollment request. We will provide the supplier with your pertinent account information, including your energy usage and consumption history.
BGE will send you a confirmation letter that includes the name of your new supplier and the date on which your new service begins.
If your enrollment request is made at least 17 days before your next scheduled meter reading date, your new service will be effective on this date. (The date of your next reading appears on your bill above the Summary Box.)
If your enrollment request is received less than 17 days before your next scheduled meter reading date, your new service will be effective on the following month's meter reading date; energy from chosen suppliers will begin flowing on the first scheduled meter reading date after you enroll.
Changing Suppliers
If after using the services of one supplier you decide to switch to another, first check the terms of the agreement with your existing supplier, as well as the agreement with the new supplier. Here's how to switch:
Contact the new supplier to initiate enrollment.
The new supplier will contact BGE electronically with an enrollment request.
BGE will notify your current supplier of your request to end service. Then BGE will send you a confirmation letter that includes the name of your new supplier and the date on which your new service begins.
Similar to your first enrollment request, if your latest enrollment request is made at least 17 days before your next scheduled meter reading date, your new service will be effective on that meter reading date.
If your enrollment request is received less than 17 days before your next scheduled meter reading date, your new service will be effective on the following meter reading date.
BGE does not charge you a fee for changing suppliers.
